Mezam CPDM in-House Rivalry: Detractors Seal Secretariat from JB Ndeh’s CPDM Coordination Meeting

Benjamin Ngah
Planned for the Bamenda Congress Hall which hosts the CPDM secretariat, the defunct JB Ndeh”s Coordination Meeting, resuscitated after the National Chairman of CPDM decreed it creation within the party some few weeks ago, finally took place at the Conference Hall of Ayaba Hotel.
Journalists and some section presidents got to the Congress Hall that afternoon yet there was no sign of life. Surprised some reporters sought from a man idling around to know whether there was a meeting in the Hall.
“There is no meeting here. As you can see the hall is locked. We were not instructed to open the hall. I am sure that meeting is elsewhere,” the idling wrangled.
We did not want to believe him and thought the meeting was going on secretly in one of the halls.
“But It is a CPDM meeting organized by JB Ndeh,” one of us argued. “The meeting is supposed to be here.”
At this juncture the idle man got annoyed and walked away murmuring something I got faintly as “who even convened the meeting. They told us not to open this place. I am not part of this fighting. This is how they do and one gets into trouble.”
Speaking to us in a much louder voice he said in Pidgin English, “wunna call JB no. wunna no get his number? Wunna call am.”
We made some few calls and discovered that the venue of the meeting was changed to Ayaba Hotel. We dashed there and being some few minutes late into the meeting.
John B Ndeh, the brain behind what has today been bought by the National Chairman of the CPDM, President Paul Biya, and which also looks like copying from the SDF’s Regional Chair person method, to create what is today called “CPDM Regional Coordinator.” The move by President Paul Biya has been hailed by many who hitherto bitterly opposed to JB Ndeh NW coordination and wrote petitions until it died naturally.
During the meeting, JB Ndeh vividly very happy paid tributes to late Hon: Tamfu who was part of the coordination meeting from inception. He avoided making any references as to why the Congress Hall serving as the party’s secretariat was not used. He also congratulated all section presidents who were part of his vision which has today come true. He said, unlike in other regions where the people would be learning how to function, the North West would be far ahead since they have been used to it already.
At the end of the meeting, a motion of support as usual sanctioned the meeting. They praised the CPDM National President for his clairvoyance and wished him many more years not only as the National President of the Party, but as that of the country.
Gossips filtering from the corridors after the meeting pointed to the fact that the Congress Hall was intentionally blocked by JB’s political rivals within the party to frustrate him from holding the meeting and take credit for what he rightly deserves. It is not the first time JB has been blocked from taking part in political events. It is said that during the 50th anniversary celebration of the unification of the two Cameroons, he and his coordination unit from the North West Region were blocked from marching past in front of the President in Buea.
