From the 9th
to the 12th of October, 2014, the Bamenda Congress Hall will play
host to the International Music Festival -IMF organized by Project New Bamenda
-PNB) in partnership with Ntambeng Cooperative Credit Union (NtamCCul).
The musical festival
which is expected to bring in close to forty musicians from around the world is
expected to be one of its kind in the north west region and the country as a
whole. Speaking at a press conference
organized for that purpose, the President of NtamCCul, Mumandam
Che Valentine, said NtamCCul is a credit union with a vision especially
for the youth and would like to make a difference by bringing in initiatives
that can help the youth generate income by bringing out the talents in them. By
supporting and partnering with PNB, he said was not the first time his union
was supporting this kind of initiative by the youth aim at encouraging
Cameroonians youth towards sustainable development, they had support and
partnered with Viola Foundation to ease the acquisition of ICT gadgets.
Reechoing Mr. Mumandam,
the General Manager of NtamCCUL, Mr. Mokum Glynn Atanga the vision of NtamCCul
was to nurture the younger generation into sustainable business ventures. He
disclosed that the union will make a collateral free credit to 100 youths to
start up sustainable business. According to him, his union is like a
baby-sitter that would pamper and encourage the youths to be the next
successful business gurus of the 21st century.
Project New Bamenda
after the successes recorded in the past years, is bringing in “In The Move”
with the aim of making Bamenda the cultural capital of Cameroon. ITM aims at showcasing traditional dances,
budding stars, and young talents in other domains and also make them palatable
not only for local consumption but internationally.
According to the event
organizer, almost everything has been put in place. The project is expected to
cost more than FCFA twenty millions including security and insurance policy.
Some renowned musical stars to grace the occasion include Petit pays, lady Ponce
and other Nigerian top stars. One of the most damaging prejudices many people
hold about Bamenda, he said was the idea that Bamenda had no hotel, no hall and
cannot host an international event of this magnitude but “we want to challenge
that idea and tell them that Bamenda has the best hotels in Cameroon and can
host international events”
